Workers lived in a camp at Summit Meadows, a former CCC camp, seven miles from the Lodge build site, and were transported by trucks to the Lodge every morning. The Lodge was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression using Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) and Federal Art Project funds, opening to the public in 1938.
