TitleChair in the Main Lounge, Timberline LodgeDescriptionA chair in Main Lounge at Timberline Lodge. The furniture for Timberline was made in the W.P.A. woodworking shop run by Ray Neufer in Portland, with metal details provided by the blacksmiths team led by Orion B. Dawson. Textiles, including upholstery, were created in Portland by the Division of Women’s and Professional Projects of the W.P.A. led by interior designer Margery Hoffman Smith. The Lodge was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression using Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) and Federal Art Project funds, opening to the public in 1938. It is a National Historic Landmark.TypeStillImageFormatimage/jpegDate1935-1943LocationTimberline Lodge, Clackamas County, Oregon, United StatesSubjectTimberline Lodge (Mount Hood, Or.)Neufer, RaySmith, Margery Hoffman, 1888-1981Dawson, Orion B., 1896-1977 Rightshttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/CNE/1.0/CollectionHistoric PhotographsW.P.A PhotographsTimberline Lodge Photographs
