TitleHexagon couch in Main Lounge, Timberline LodgeDescriptionA hexagon couch in the Main Lounge of Timberline Lodge. The Main Lounge of Timberline Lodge is on the first floor of the Head House. Some of the furnishings in the Main Lounge are hexagonal shape that mirrors the shape of Head House. The Lodge’s wooden furniture was built in the W.P.A. woodworking shop run by Ray Neufer in Portland. Textiles, including upholsteries, were created in Portland by the Division of Women’s and Professional Projects of the W.P.A. led by interior designer Margery Hoffman Smith. The Lodge was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression using Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) and Federal Art Project funds, opening to the public in 1938. It is a National Historic Landmark.TypeStillImageFormatimage/jpegDate1935-1943LocationTimberline Lodge, Clackamas County, Oregon, United StatesSubjectTimberline Lodge (Mount Hood, Or.)Neufer, RaySmith, Margery Hoffman, 1888-1981Rightshttp://rightsstatements.org/vocab/CNE/1.0/CollectionHistoric PhotographsW.P.A PhotographsTimberline Lodge Photographs
