TitleAstoria Column DescriptionLocated on top of Coxcomb Hill, the column was erected in 1926, financed by the Great Northern Railway and Vincent Astor. It includes a 164-step spiral staircase leading to an observation deck. The column has the world’s only large-scale pictorial frieze in sgraffito, done by Italian immigrant artist Attilio Pusterla. The murals depict 14 significant events in the early history of Oregon, as well as 18 scenes from the history of the region.
